Last week, I had the opportunity to participate as a talk show panelist at the GDG 5th Homecoming Day. GDG (Google Developer Groups) is a community where developers interested in Google technologies gather to share knowledge and network, and it's where I was active as a 5th generation member. It was great to meet juniors after a long time and share stories, and I was also a bit nervous knowing that this was a place to share my experiences.
During the talk show, we discussed various topics such as 'How should developers survive in the AI era' and 'What kind of choice can entrepreneurship be.' These were topics that any developer these days would have thought about at least once, so I honestly shared my experiences and thoughts from running DevFive.
There were many questions about the role of developers in the AI era, and I talked about how developers need to change along with the rapidly evolving technology. Juniors also showed great interest in entrepreneurship. I shared that while entrepreneurship is not the answer for everyone, it can be one option, and discussed what you gain through that process.
While conversing with the juniors, I also felt many things. Their concerns resembled my past self, and at the same time, seeing their passion and potential made me look forward to their future. I hope that the experiences I shared were of some help to them.
I hope there will be opportunities to communicate with juniors through such occasions in the future. I look forward to meeting again with better stories and more meaningful experiences.
